Lantern making competition in Salzkotten
Under the motto "Salzkotten is calling you: Crafting like 75 years ago", the town of Salzkotten, together with Salzkotten Marketing, is calling on all citizens to prove their creative crafting skills in a lantern-making competition.
The background to this competition dates back to 1949, when very unusual lanterns were made in Salzkotten that did not look like owls, foxes, unicorns or dragons. No! In Salzkotten, the lanterns looked like famous buildings (of the town), coats of arms, churches and much more. All participants were able to give free rein to their imagination in the design and thus created a completely unusual image for the lantern procession on St. Martin's Day.
And now - 75 years later - Salzkotten would like to revive this tradition and is even awarding the three most beautiful lanterns with attractive prizes:
Prizes:
1st place: ticket for one child and companion to SC Paderborn 07 and a €25 city voucher
2nd place: ticket for one child and companion to SC Paderborn 07
3rd place: €75 voucher from the Heder Center/Südring Center
In addition, the winning lantern will be awarded the title "Most Beautiful Lantern 2024".
